What is Pre-IPO?
Pre-IPO, or Pre-Initial Public Offering, is when one invests in a company before it comes to a recognised market, i.e.- prior to a company's admission to trading. Often most of the big growth has been taken by the founders, Venture Capitalists and Institutions before a company is admitted to trading on the market.
When purchasing shares in quoted companies there is usually a restriction in the number of shares that can be purchased, this can be coupled with dealing costs and onerous share spreads between the buy and sell price. None of these costs/restrictions are present when purchasing equity on a pre-IPO basis.
What is PLUS?
Plus is a share trading facility provided by Plus Markets Group Plc and allows investors the opportunity to purchase shares in unlisted and unquoted companies. Unquoted.co.uk is an independent financial news website operated by Unquoted Ltd , and is not affiliated or connected withPlus Markets Group Plc in any way and is not an authorised source of official PLUS market information. Trading in PLUS shares can carry a high degree of risk and all prospective PLUS investors should seek professional investment advice before trading shares on PLUS. The value of shares can fall as well as rise and at times, due to the liquidity of a particular stock, it may be difficult to buy or sell a share at any point in time.
